Sometimes seniors don’t want to entertain the notion of accepting home care because they don’t want to admit things have gotten “that bad.” They want to believe that they’re as independent as they ever were, and always will be. This perspective is understandable. However, you don’t have to necessarily hire San Mateo senior home care for a loved one because things are “that bad.” Many times, help is called in because things are so-so, but they could be better. For instance, maybe it’s difficult for your mom to cook the full meals that she once did, but she has no trouble taking a bath or getting dressed. Or maybe your father can’t drive anymore and needs help with transportation, but he can get the housecleaning done just fine. As the aging process advances, it’s often these little things that can determine whether our golden years are spent in comfort or inconvenience. Many people have worked hard all their lives, and deserve the same measure of relief and well-being they’ve given to others. It’s why the Institute on Aging was created.
Home care that helps you relax and enjoy the ride
The Institute on Aging (IOA) was designed to handle many different aspects of senior care. For instance, if your loved one is just beginning to need help at home, we’re happy to provide a few hours of assistance via a home health aide. If they need someone to stay with them all day, we can do that as well. Or if you’re worried about them being alone at night, our friendly, knowledgeable staff can keep them company – as well as deal with any urgent situations that may arise. Sometimes people think that accepting this type of help means they’ll eventually end up in a higher level of care (i.e., a nursing home). But actually, incremental assistance can sometimes delay or prevent the need for such care. Of course, the IOA is always here if you need additional services. But in every case, our primary purpose is to let your senior safely relax and enjoy their time at home.
